Women-Owned Furniture Restoration Company Passed Down to Next Generation

The Furniture Doctors, a women-owned furniture repair and reupholstery company, located in the Inland Northwest, announced that it has served the region for 40 years. Serving clients from Idaho, Western Montana, and Eastern Washington since 1978, The Furniture Doctors has earned a reputation for its dedication to customers and a personal desire to provide high-quality service.

Of the company’s 40 years in service, CEO Jacqueline Malinauskas said, “True to our mission statement, we are always striving for excellence through quality craftsmanship and exceptional customer service. Our team members are all part of our growing success, and our personal family has now become our family of ‘doctors’ in whom we invest time and training. Our family values were first instilled by my husband, Paul, during his 35 years of service with the company. He also developed many of the structural skills our craftspeople use today.”

After completing a Master’s degree from the University of Idaho in Textiles and Industrial Arts, Malinauskas became a specialist in finishing procedures, cosmetic repairs, touch-up, and custom color matching. Following in her parents’ footsteps daughter, Lisa Freeman, grew to develop a passion for furniture restoration. Today, she is the major shareholder in the company and is responsible for the company’s day-to-day operations as shop manager.  

Freeman said, “Forty years of service to our community and the Inland Northwest is a milestone that I’m proud to be a part of, and I’m excited to carry The Furniture Doctors into the next generation. I see the importance in quality craftsmanship and the ability to adapt a piece of furniture to a client’s current needs and style.”

The Furniture Doctors, Inc. is a family-owned and -operated business located in Rathdrum, Idaho.
