Kootenai Paramedics/Mano a Mano Bolivia Partnership
Paramedics from Kootenai County EMS System (www.kcemss.org) and two Kootenai Health emergency physicians traveled to Bolivia in March of 2018 to teach a Prehospital Trauma Care class. We had a very successful and fulfilling experience, and plan to continue to partner with their first responder community. We have already been invited back for another course!
We also plan to raise funds to help build a rural health clinic. This will be in partnership with Mano a Mano Bolivia (www.manoamanobolivia.org/web/?lang=en), a development group with whom Dr. Luther, KCEMSS Medical Director, has worked since 2009. They have a stellar record of sustained aid to the poor of Bolivia, most evident in their construction of rural health clinics. Mano a Mano’s model of clinic construction has resulted in the remarkable record of having constructed 162 clinics, all of which are currently fully staffed and operational. Our first fundraising effort is a McEuen Park benefit concert in coordination with Car d’Lane. Scot Bruce, internationally known Elvis impersonator, will provide a rockin’ finale to Car d’Lane, on June 16th with proceeds going to our efforts to build a clinic. We would appreciate your support!
