The Education Committee for the North Idaho Building Contractors Association is presenting a 2nd Annual Pet Parade Of Homes for students entering Kindergarten through entering twelfth grades. There are several categories in four different age groups, with prizes awarded at the September 20th Awards Ceremony. Students can register online and information with all the details will be sent out via email. Pets can be any animal, not just traditional pets, so be creative. Grades K-2 will learn about the building industry careers, based on the book The House that She Built. They will draw a detailed home for their chosen pet. Grades 3-5 will use LEGO bricks to build their original design for their pet of choice. Grades 6-8 will use cardboard to construct their original design, and High School students will have the opportunity to develop their design with an architect and work with a local builder to create their pet home. The concept was first presented by NIBCA during the 2022 Parade of Homes and was a fun event to help introduce students in our community to careers in the building industry. Entries are due and can be submitted during office hours (M-F 9am-4pm) on or before September 1st. All entries will be on display at the NIBCA office, 1928 N. Fourth Street, Coeur d'Alene, September 16-17 & 22-24, during the Parade of Homes. Judging of all entries will be September 16 & 17 and the Pet Parade Of Homes Awards Night will be held September 20, 6-7 pm at a Parade Home, sponsored by North Ridge Contracting.
